Steroids

Yes, fucking steroids.

In today's sports world, no form of cheating is exposed in the media more than steroids, but are people getting upset over it for all the wrong reasons?

Steroids seem to be scrutinized the most in Major League Baseball where you'll hear the higher ups talking about how it makes for an un-level playing field, but everyone knows that that's not the main concern. Baseball is such a stat fueled sport that what most people care about are the records and the affect steroids have on them; namely the career home run record that Barry Bonds is currently chasing.

I believe that most baseball fans will not respect his record when he breaks it and it will be the subject for mainly retarded debates. Okay, let's just get a few things out of the way. Barry Bonds has and does take steroids, we all know this, he will break the home run record, he is only still in the league because of steroids, and he does absolutely NOTHING for his team.

Barry Bonds is an excellent hitter, there is no doubt in my mind about that at all, hell, he might even be one of the greatest hitters of all time. Steroids do not help you hit, all they've done is kept him hitting well into his forties. Honestly, that's my biggest problem with steroid usage. It keeps players in the game that have no business being there. Barry Bonds should be retired, writing his blog for a living.

Somebody like Bonds does nothing but take up a roster spot and a shitload of the team's money. Which is something about steroids that also pisses me off. With the older stars being able to stay around for so long because of their steroid usage, it's potentially keeping youth out of the league. What's more exciting? A steroid filled aging giant, are a rising stud? Just look at the Giants as a good example of this for their average age of 35.6 years old could very well end up being the oldest professional baseball team ever.

Steroids hurt baseball in ways that people don't even realize.

What about other sports? Well... it seems like nobody really gives a fuck about steroids.

Well... except for maybe this guy:

...ew

That was actually my favorite outfield, Moises Alou, Barry Bonds and Steve Finley. It was like the baseball version of the movie Coccoon. 123 total years combined there. Not to mention 43 yr old Jeff Fassero, 40 yr old Mike Stanton and 39 yr old Omar Vizquel also on the team. I'm sure Felipe Alou just wanted to feel a little bit younger.
